How To Delete or Remove the Autorun.inf Virus
September 20, 2008

Be careful when you insert a removable storage device to your PC because it is so dangerous especially if that device has a virus. To protect yourself against viruses when inserting removable storage device in your PC or Laptop, I advice you to disable the autorun feature on your settings. To do thaet in Windows 7:

  1. Press and hold down the Win Key + R from the keyboard
  2. Type gpedit.msc and Hit Enter
  3. Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Autoplay Policies
  4. Double click the "Turn off Autoplay" in the Settings pane.
  5. Click the "Enabled" radio button then select "All Drives" in Options
  6. Restart the computer
After restarting the computer, you can now insert your Storage device. On My Computer, do not double click the storage device. Right Click the device and select open. Find the Autorun.inf and open it. Find the Executable file that is called in Autorun.inf and delete it. Then Finally, delete the Autorun.inf. To make sure that your Storage device has no more viruses, scan it with your Antivirus Software. Be sure to update your antivirus everyday.
